Abstract: Assessment Decisions You Can Defend

Most of us build quizzes, writing tasks, and rubrics under time pressure, then live with the grades they produce. This talk asks where those grades come from and how far they can be trusted. I will work through cases from university courses: a rubric that two teachers read differently, a final grade that mixes attendance with proficiency, a speaking task that ends up measuring reading. Participants leave with a short set of questions to put to their own assessments, and with fixes that need no statistical software. Intended for university teachers who make assessment decisions without formal training in testing

 

アブストラクト: 説明できる評価をつくる ― 大学の語学授業における課題・ルーブリック・成績

我々教員の多くは限られた時間の中で小テストやライティング課題、ルーブリックを準備し、そこで得た評価をそのまま学生の成績判定に用いています。本発表では、大学の授業での具体例を取り上げながら、その評価が何に基づいているのか、どこまで信頼できるのかを検討します。教師によって解釈の異なるルーブリック、出席点と言語能力を混同した評価、スピーキングを測るはずが実際には読解力を測っている課題などです。参加者には、ご自身の評価を点検するための問いと、統計ソフトを使わずにできる改善策を持ち帰っていただきます。本講義は、主にテスト理論の専門的な訓練を受けたことのない大学教員を対象としています。

Bio:

Siwon Park is Professor and Director of the English Program in the Faculty of International Liberal Arts at Juntendo University, Tokyo. He earned his PhD at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, with a study of rater behavior and task difficulty, and taught at Kanda University of International Studies from 2005 to 2024. His research deals with rating scales, rater effects, and test validation. He currently holds JSPS KAKENHI and ETS research funding.

朴シウォン（Siwon Park）。順天堂大学国際教養学部教授、英語プログラム・ディレクター。ハワイ大学マノア校より、採点者行動とタスク困難度に関する研究で博士号を取得。2005年から2024年まで神田外語大学に勤務。専門は言語テスト理論で、評定尺度、採点者効果、テストの妥当性検証を主なテーマとしている。現在、日本学術振興会科学研究費およびETSより研究助成を受けている。
