DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Gabriela Schmidt (JALT CEFR LP SIG President)\n\nThe
 me OverviewThe theme “Community Building for Language Competency” high
 lights the vital role of collaboration in fostering effective language edu
 cation. This conference will focus on three interconnected areas: \n(1) p
 rofessional development for teachers\, (2) supporting students in developi
 ng practical\, real-world competencies\, and (3) the role of communities o
 f practice in enhancing teacher and learner development within diverse con
 texts. \nWe will explore how professional development initiatives can emp
 ower young and emerging teachers by equipping them with the knowledge\, co
 nfidence\, and networks needed to thrive. At the same time\, we will empha
 size innovative\, learner-centered approaches that build students’ pract
 ical language competencies and prepare them for meaningful communication b
 eyond the classroom. \nCentral to this vision is the creation of inclusiv
 e\, multilingual communities of practice\, where teachers\, learners\, and
  stakeholders collaborate across languages and cultures to share expertise
  and cultivate mutual growth. By strengthening professional pathways\, pra
 ctical skills\, and relational ties\, the conference aims to support the d
 evelopment of more equitable and connected language-learning communities i
 n the future.\nPanSIG 2026 will be in Nagoya at the Chukyo University on M
 ay 23rd and 24th\, 2026 with Gabriela Schmidt as conference chair and Phil
