 Empathy-Building in the EFL Classroom\nEmpathy is considered crucial to in
 tercultural communication. The presenter will first describe a study that 
 examined a link between reading English haiku and empathy. This study foun
 d that reflecting upon English haiku over one semester led to a significan
 t increase in the empathy levels of Japanese medical students. Next\, the 
 presenter will introduce activities that aim to increase empathy by making
  students aware of their own feelings\, the feelings of others\, and how t
 o respond appropriately. Participants will leave this presentation armed w
 ith activities to help their own students become more empathetic communica
 tors.\nEFLにおける共感構築\n文化コミュニケーションに
 おいて共感は極めて重要とされています。発表者はま
 ず、英語の俳句を読むことと共感の関連性を検証した
 研究を紹介します。この研究では、日本の医学生が1学
 期にわたり英語の俳句を考察した結果、共感レベルが
 著しく向上したことが明らかになりました。次に、学
 生自身の感情や他者の感情を自覚させ、適切な対応方
 法を学ぶことで共感力を高める活動を紹介します。参
 加者は本発表を通じて、自身の学生がより共感的なコ
 ミュニケーション能力を身につけるための実践手法を
