Description
Sponsored by Cambridge University Press & Assessment
Despite the amount of assessment of students’ English, we often hear the following frustrations: 1) Proper implementation of placement tests is difficult. 2) Placement tests focus on just reading and listening. 3) Assessment rarely translates into useful feedback for students. 4) Formative assessment is often (too) level-specific. The presenter will show how the new Cambridge English Skills Test can comprehensively evaluate students' English proficiency, place them in appropriate classes, and provide them with feedback.
Summary
Many institutes struggle with effective use of assessment in their English language programme. Frustrations with lack of placement test, focus on receptive skills, reliance on summative assessment, or demotivation from testing are not uncommon in many programmes. The presenter will show how Cambridge's new test, the Cambridge English Skills Test, is an effective tool to comprehensively evaluate students' English proficiency, place them in appropriate classes, and provide them with useful feedback.
