Description

This presentation will share the experiences of an online company that offers English language instruction. The learners are in Japan while the English-speaking instructors are in the Philippines. Currently, Saibi Senior High School of Matsuyama, Ehime has contracted to SPTR-Japan to conduct occasional dialogue with its students. Saibi offers many different study courses. One is the International Program. Among the various classes are Japanese along with a strong emphasis on English language studies. As part of the English component, in addition to in-class instruction with native English speakers and their Japanese homeroom teachers; learners are paired to English speakers from the Philippines for short 1:1 practical conversation. This presentation will explain more about the online system SPTR-Japan, along with the frequency of interactions, costs, and reactions of both students and instructors. Internet technology offers many unique learning opportunities. The time difference of only 1 hour between the Philippines and Japan allows for a smooth connection between users on both ends. Students seem to enjoy the up-to-date educational and alternative form of language learning. This online mode could be a sign of what the future holds for leaning in general.
