Undeveloped listening skills seriously hamper one’s ability to learn a foreign language. Research tells us that explicitly teaching the skills of listening helps students to improve their comprehension abilities, and yet listening is often not directly taught, rather being left to develop as a by-product of speaking. This presentation will focus on the “hows” of teaching listening: what to focus on and how.
