Description
Errant AI agents (Booth, 2026), endangered journalistic freedoms (RWB, 2025), algorithmic influences (Graham, 2026), SNS addiction (Kerai, 2026) and the ecological impact of hyperscale-data-centres (S & P Global, 2025), were some of the topics explored in a university-level Media Literacy class. Class members interacted with content through student-generated activities, thereby fostering and deepening learner agency and understanding. Participants engaged meaningfully not only with in-class material, but also considered its application and effect on their academic and wider lives. The benefits and challenges of this form of class will be discussed, especially examining student responsibilities, responses and capabilities.
