Description
The university and local government collaborated to implement English-language activities that utilized local resources. Students gained experience interacting with the local community in English by conducting street surveys and posting information on social media in both Japanese and English. As a result, some students began to participate actively in community activities and educational volunteer work, which fostered ongoing engagement with the local community. This presentation examines the role of English-mediated community collaboration activities in shaping learners’ agency, identity, sense of community participation, and understanding of society and cultural diversity.
