Description
With the proliferation of AI use in education, the need to rethink what we assess and how we assess it has become a critical issue for teachers. Meanwhile, as Japan moves towards a tourism-based future, communicative competence has become increasingly significant for students. It is important to connect these issues and consider how teachers can design equitable assessments that are impartial towards AI use while focusing on skills our students need in the future. This presentation describes a four-week study examining how multimodal shadowing can be used as an assessment to help equip students with the communicative competences for tomorrow.
