Description
This study examines EFL university students’ perceptions and motivation toward teacher-generated and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI)-generated feedback in academic writing. Drawing on Self-Determination Theory, it explores how both feedback sources support learners’ needs for autonomy, competence, and relatedness. Using a mixed-methods approach in a Japanese university context, the study compares students’ experiences of these feedback sources and considers how they may complement each other in supporting writing development and learner motivation.
