Description
Waseda University Graduate Student Showcase. This study will investigate the effects of ChatGPT-mediated speaking practice on Japanese university students’ English-speaking performance. Using a mixed-methods design, several non-English majors will complete topic-based speaking tasks with both ChatGPT and human peers. Audio-recorded interactions will be analyzed in terms of fluency, accuracy, complexity, and interactional features. The study will aim to provide empirical evidence on the potential of AI chatbots to support oral communication in Japanese EFL contexts.
