Practice-oriented Presentation (30-minutes) JALT Sponsors Room 1006

Speakers

Marcos Benevides (J. F. Oberlin University) Pino Cutrone (Nagasaki University)

Description

This practical session demonstrates how conversation analysis tasks can be used to draw learner attention to self-selected language forms. Learners listen to, transcribe, discuss, and analyze authentic listenings. After noticing forms that they find of interest, learners try using them in follow-up speaking tasks. These speaking tasks, in turn, can be analyzed by other learners in a sequenced task cycle. Participants will come away with an engaging and effective lesson plan that engages critical thinking.
