This presentation introduces The SNOOP Detective School (Kelly & Suzuki, 2025), a task-based language teaching (TBLT) textbook, through a synthesis of experimental findings and classroom experiences. Focusing on learner emotions, interaction, and language development, I discuss how the textbook's task design promotes learner engagement, meaningful communication, and effective language learning. Participants will gain practical ideas for implementing research-informed TBLT activities that foster engagement and communicative competence.
