How can AI conversation partners support language learning beyond the classroom? This session introduces the design principles behind MiMi Chat, an AI conversation partner used at over 50 universities. Drawing on data from more than 15,000 learners and classroom case studies, we explore how guided interaction, CEFR-based feedback, and AI-supported assessment can enhance learner engagement and communicative competence while supporting teachers in higher education.
