In task-based language teaching, tasks are generally expected to fulfil four key principles. However, the extent to which these principles are realised can vary, suggesting that some tasks are more “task-like” than others. This presentation explores how existing tasks in a TBLT coursebook were adapted to better reflect the four principles. Through illustrative examples, the presenter will demonstrate how relatively small changes can enhance task design, with clear implications for materials development.
